For administrative purposes,a petition will be classed as a single representation and the Commissioners will onlycorrespond with the sender of the petition, if known, or otherwise the first signatory – “theprimary petitioner”.• When making a representation, please also indicate the nature of your interest in theproposals (e.g. parishioner, member of parochial church council, etc) and whether youwould like an opportunity to speak to the Committee regarding your representation if theCommissioners decide a hearing should be held regarding the case.• If the Commissioners receive representations against the draft Scheme, they will sendthem, and any representations supporting the draft Scheme, to the Bishop whose viewswill be sought. Individual representors and the primary petitioner will then receive copiesof the correspondence with the Bishop (including copies of all the representations) andwill be told whether a hearing is to be held. They and individual petitioners may commentfurther to the Commissioners. Copies of all of the representations received and associatedcorrespondence will be published on the Commissioners’ website if the matter needs tobe considered by the Commissioners.• If a hearing is held, anyone may attend the meeting of the Mission and PastoralCommittee that considers the case and representors may have an opportunity to speak tothe Committee. Otherwise, the case will be considered in private.• When the Commissioners acknowledge representations they will let individualrepresentors (and the primary petitioner) know the next few dates of the Committee’smeetings. Churchwarden’s report for May 2024Lent finished at the end of March with services on Maundy Thursday, GoodFriday and Easter Day along with the beginning of Summer Time. Theweather remains somewhat patchy.The normal pattern of services at St. Mary’s will be broken on the thirdSunday in May, 19th, when there will be no morning service at 10.30:instead there will be a service of Choral Evensong at 6.30pm with theDeanery Choir conducted by Peter Spooner: it has been some time sincethey last came to Rostherne. It is a lovely service too little held nowadays. Itis hoped that as many as possible will feel able to attend what should be awonderful occasion and a fitting end to the weekend.The Rostherne with Bollington PCC at its meeting in March decided thatrecipients of printed copies of the parish magazine should pay a subscriptionof £10 per year if they wished to continue to receive a monthly copy: this isto enable the cost of paper and ink to be recovered so far as possible:notices to that effect have been sent out to recipients in the parish of loosecopies; notices to those receiving by post have yet to be notified.The Annual Parochial Church Council Meeting for Rostherne with Bollingtontook place on 16th April at which the Annual Report and Accounts for theyear ended 31st December 2023 were tabled.Sunday afternoon church sitting at St. Mary’s. It is hoped that it will bepossible to open the church for visitors during the coming months but inorder to do so it is necessary to have two people able and willing to preside.If you wish to volunteer please let me know and hopefully we can make abetter success of it than last year.Bishop Sam has been in touch as regards progress towards a possible endof the current interregnum. The pastoral reorganisation involving the threeparishes of Over Tabley, Dunham Massey and Rostherne with Bollington iscurrently with the Church Commissioners and the hope is that by late May/early June advertisement and interviewing will have been completed in timefor a summer start. There is some optimism as to there being at least onesuitable applicant for the post.Let us hope so but given that nothing is certain it would be wise to continueseeking cover for services for the latter half of the year.Since then a notice has been issued, a copy of which appears in this editionof the magazine, concerning the draft pastoral scheme which has beenprepared : anyone may make representations to the Church Commissionersfor or against all or any part or parts of the draft scheme no later than 22ndMay: details of how to do so are set out in the notice.Christopher Tetlow
