Getting here

St Peter's is a Collegiate-type Church of amazing proportions. This is due to 14th and 15th Century benefactors and the influence of the Hanbury family, Patrons and parsons in the 18th & 19th Century. Rector William Hanbury organised the first performance of Handel's Messiah in a Parish Church in England in St Peter's on 27th September 1759. The church has a wonderful acoustic and is conscious of its musical history; music is a key part of its worship.

St Peter's sits at the heart of its parish serving three villages of Church, East and West Langton. Church Langton primary school is sited across the road and the school attends church in regular services during term time.

In 2014, St Peter's, along with the churches of Thorpe Langton, Tur Langton and Shangton joined forces with the Benefice of Welham, Cranoe, Glooston and Stonton Wyville forming the Wider Welland Partnership, a team of eight churches serving the people living in this picturesque part of south Leicestershire.

Our friendly congregation meets every Sunday at 10.30am offering three family Eucharists on the 1st 3rd and 4th Sundays, with hymns played on the organ or piano. Refreshments are offered after every service.

We use Hymns Old and New "One Church, One Faith, One Lord" in our worship. St Peter's has eight bells and welcomes teams of visiting ringers by appointment.

St Peter's offers a warm welcome to everyone.

We have a Roof Appeal following lead thefts in 2017. You can support the appeal by putting this link in your browser:
