Getting here

We are a lively and growing church across three parishes with members from a wide geographical area &hellip, We have a thriving Children’s Church, and an active Youth work headed up by our Senior Youth Worker, Paddy Donovan.

Our church is managed by the church wardens and Parochial Church Council (see PCC Members) in partnership with the Rector, James di Castiglione. We also have more than 100 adults meeting weekly in small home-based groups. We run Alpha courses and Marriage courses.

We meet together each Sunday morning in our refurbished, bright and comfortable Church building. That’s what we do together, but we are also a church that wants to be involved in the world and our community. So we are people who work in local schools, healthcare, local business, and so on. At the same time, we have links with Christians working across the world.

Everyone is welcome at any of our services, whether you come from a place of strong faith, numerous doubts, or no faith at all. There is no compulsion to do anything that doesn’t make sense to you, but we would love to see you and welcome you!  So, we look forward to seeing you.

This is a great website, but the reality of the Church is even better! May God be with you! James di Castiglione, Rector.

We meet at 11:00 on Sundays at Ashington Parish Church Please see the Events Calendar for actual timings and please come and join us!

First and third Sundays in the Month – Morning Worship

The first and third Sundays in a month are Morning Worship. We tend to choose this service for Baptisms and Thanksgivings. Creche, Children and Youth leave after the first part of the service. The service lasts a little under 90 minutes.

Once a term, we have "Tribal Gathering" - a Family Service and you are welcomed at the start of this service with a cup of tea or coffee. This service is for people of all ages. All are welcome to this relaxed time, lasting about an hour. Everything you need for the service is displayed on two screens at the front of the church. The worship is led by a music group with children encouraged to join in with actions and questions. The talk is based on the Bible and involves everyone – sometimes assisted by two of our puppets.

Second and Fourth Sundays in the Month – with Holy Communion

On the other Sundays in the month we share Holy Communion, using Common Worship. All are welcome to the service, and we invite everyone to share bread and wine. However, if you are not in the habit of taking Communion at your ‘home church’ we would ask that you simply come forward for a prayer of blessing. You can then chat to James, our Rector, about being ready for taking the bread and wine. Creche, Children and Youth have their own activities but do share some of the service with the whole church. The service lasts a little under 90 minutes.

Fifth Sundays – United Service

Where there is a 5th Sunday in a month the service may be held at Ashington or at our sister church in Washington. For this service, the three congregations meet together. Please check this website, or the notice board outside the church. Tea, coffee, squash are served after every service.
